Who am I?
My name is Sass and I am a person who cares. I care about people. I care about you, whoever you are and however you identify.
I care about unity and perspective. I believe in the power of people, both collectively and as individuals. That's why I listen to people of all identities.
I care about honesty and representation. I genuinely don't see a reason to get good at lying. I believe regular people should be represented by regular people.
And that's who I am.
My name is Sass and I am a regular person who cares.
Perhaps you want a little more.
Like most Austinites, I'm not from Austin. I'm originally from Michigan. I moved to Texas to find my next chapter in life. My professional skillset was in restaurant work, so that's how I sustained myself (with a bit of Postmates here and there).
And then COVID-19 hit.
In no way an exception, I was laid off from both of my serving gigs a day apart from each other in March 2020. While the pandemic has been brutal, I had an opportunity to sit with myself for a time I never had before. I've always been passionate about politics, but it was during the fully-exposed collapse of our country that I realized that I was called to start a new conversation.
So that's what I'm doing.
Division is crippling America. Propaganda and misinformation is drilled into our heads every day to keep us hating those who are closest to us. I will be directly addressing this polarity throughout and beyond this campaign using skills I've learned from working with incredibly diverse groups of people.
And that's just the beginning.
As this campaign builds, you will see and hear so much more from me that you've yet to see and hear from any other campaign. If you're tired of having representatives who still live in the 20th century, I'll be the breath of fresh air you've been looking for.
